An Evening With Nes

It’s seldom a member of T.H.E.M. goes to Manila, so when Neslie sent me a text message saying she was here in Manila, I was glad. It was a good thing that she and her group [they were here for a symposium...or something involving Lasallians] were going to Mall of Asia. It’s relatively near where I’m staying and I’m not going to pass up an opportunity to meet a high school friend. Especially one as insane as Neslie. ;-)
I also met four other people. Two [I'm guessing, very active] students and two teachers [?]. After touring the mall, watching some kids skate, running into Fitness First promoters and buying stuff for pasalubong, we had dinner at Guilly’s Island.

At The Mall Of Asia

After that, we went on to Greenbelt and to The Coffee Bean where they were meeting a certain Jose Wendell P. Capili, MPhil [I got this from a business card], a UP Diliman Professor in the College of Arts and Letters. He wrote a few books and he showed us one [it was a collection of essays]. I had a sansrival of sorts and cream-based frappe. I wasn’t all that hungry since we just had dinner, but we were being treated to free food, so why say no? We spent quite some time engaging in conversations about various topics ranging from the Bacolod sex scandal to Filipino discrimination to the DLSU ID system. I even learned a new Hiligaynon [sometimes referred to as Ilonggo] word: alpot. Anybody know what that means? ;-)
It was getting late, so it was time to head home. Thankfully, they walked me to the car. I think I would have freaked out if I had gone alone. Thankies, Nes.
